Welcome to my Blog!

Hi!, My name is Kimberly Lu and I am an Early Childhood and Special Education Major at Lebanon Valley College. I am a freshman. The reason why I chose this major is that I love to teach, help others, and to be around people especially little children. I always want to see others smile when they accomplish a new lesson, and to be around when they want help. With little children, they always make me smile, and always brighten up my day. When I complete my four years in LVC, I hope to have a classroom that has an educational atmosphere, and a place where others feel welcome.

When I decided what platform to use as my blog, I had to do research and testing on what blog would be comfortable for me to use. I also wanted it to make a blog that would stay for my four years in LVC, and continue on into my teaching career.  First, I went on Weebly and found that they had nice designs, but since I've never used it so it was a little bit hard for me to use. I had trouble connecting my URL address into the class page. But, when I found blogger,  I can connect my Google account address into my blogger account. As I navigated around the website, I saw that there were many options to choose from, for example, like the background, and color. Overall, Blogger was not complicated to use because, it was simplistic just how I wanted it to be. I think that if I had a classroom I will use blogger because it will be easier for the students to navigate through my blogs.

I've never blogged before, so this is the first time I am blogging. I wanted to make a blog that expresses my personality. My definition of blogging is to speak out my thoughts, but it will take me a while to get used to it because I am a little bit quiet and shy to speak how I feel. But this is a good thing to learn because once I get on into my teaching career, I need to overcome these obstacles. So it is important for me to write how I feel because it will benefit others who read my blog. I want to do the same thing while reading other teacher's blogs. I want to connect my experience to their experience, and I think if I read blogs I can learn new things.

The benefits of this blog is to be able to learn what blogging is all about, and to be able to implement it into my future classroom. Sometimes, I can post news about how the week is going, class field trip, activities that the class is involved in, and the schedule, lessons and homework then I can blog about it. I think blogging will be handy because if I want to blog about the schedule for the upcoming week, I don't have to waste paper copying the schedule. I think it will give parents updates about if I change the class schedule, Since people don't look at paper that much, it will be easier to post it on a blog.

Overall, I think that blogging is a good opportunity for others to know who I am. Even though I've never blogged before, it will be a good thing to learn and appreciate about!

Thank you for reading my blog!

  1. Hey Kimberly,
I like how you are starting out your blog. I understand where you are coming from, understanding the benefits of blogging, I feel the same way. I also feel that it is important to have a blog for the class for parents having the schedules ahead of time and to see what's is going on in the classroom. I feel that it is important to for students to have a place to go online and comment what they are feeling or play fun educational games, even to look at fun pictures from the past.

Personally, I am also a bit quiet and shy, so for to blog, I know I can speak my mind because it would be a lot easier for me then talking in front of the class about my thoughts. I believe that you would have a lot of fun blogging.

  2. Kimberly,
I enjoyed reading your blog because I felt many of the same feelings as you did and I could relate to your post. Another positive aspect of your blog is that I like the theme that you picked and it was not distracting from your writing but it was still intriguing.
